Most DAT schedules assume you have nothing else going on. Here's a version built for students who are also taking classes or working.
The DAT covers Natural Sciences, Perceptual Ability, Reading Comprehension, and Quantitative Reasoning. Most successful test-takers study for 8–12 weeks, but the schedule matters more than the total hours.
Focus on content review — biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry. Aim for 90 minutes on weekdays, 2–3 hours on one weekend day. Don't touch full practice tests yet; you're building the base first.
Start section-specific practice sets, rotating through each of the four sections across the week rather than drilling one section for days at a time — this mirrors how your brain will need to switch between them on test day.
Take one full-length practice test per week under real timing conditions. Review every wrong answer the same day, not days later — the review is where the actual learning happens, not the test itself.
Cut new content entirely. Review your weak-area notes, get consistent sleep, and treat this week as tapering, not cramming.
Build in one full rest day per week from the start. Students who study seven days a week for two months almost always burn out before the test, not during it. A sustainable pace beats an aggressive one that collapses in week 6.
